What is a Bath bun?
A Bath bun is a sweet fruit bun with sugar, and the city has two rival claims to it. The Bath Bun tea shop says the bun dates from 1761 and Dr William Oliver, who made it for his patients, and that it is laced with a sugar cube and fruit. The Sally Lunn bun is a different thing: a brioche-like bun that Sally Lunn's says arrived in Bath in 1680. Try both; they are five minutes' walk apart.

Two tea rooms by the Abbey are built around the buns, and both are walk-in during the day.
