This is the planning side of a visit to The Roman Baths: what Roman Baths tickets cost on each date, when to go, who gets in free and where to go next door. Every price and rule comes from the Roman Baths' own site, read on 26 October 2026. Tickets are sold only at romanbaths.co.uk, and the site warns of a fake discount site. Where the official site does not say something, we say so rather than guess.

How much are Roman Baths tickets?

An adult ticket costs £23.50 to £33 booked online, depending on the date and whether it is a weekday. These are the advance prices; the same ticket bought on the day is £2 more.

No prices for January 2027 were published when we checked.

When is the best time to visit the Roman Baths?

Visitors in winter coats crossing the wet flagstones of Abbey Church Yard in Bath on a grey morning, with Bath Abbey and a stone colonnade

Weekday mornings are the quietest, according to the Roman Baths. In mid-July and August it is calmer in the evening or before 10am. Weekdays are also cheaper, so a November weekday morning is the best value and the least crowded.

To 31 October it opens daily from 9am to 6pm, last entry 5pm. Hours from 1 November were not on the official site when we checked, so look before you book. It closes on 25 and 26 December, has last entry at 4.15pm on 24 December, and opens at 10am on 1 January. The torches round the Great Bath are lit at about 4pm in winter.

Do you need to book Roman Baths tickets in advance?

Yes. Nobody may join the queue without a ticket and a booked time slot. The Roman Baths recommends booking at least 24 hours ahead, and summer slots often sell out. Allow up to 15 minutes to get in from your slot time, and expect a security check.

The route is one way with no re-entry. Tickets are non-refundable; date changes depend on availability, and the FAQ mentions a £10 admin fee. Luggage and large rucksacks are not allowed (backpacks up to 30 litres are), nor is food or drink other than water in a secure bottle, and there is no luggage store.

Is there a 2 for 1 or a discount on Roman Baths tickets?

We found no 2 for 1 offer. The official site listed none on 26 October 2026, and it says tickets are sold only at romanbaths.co.uk. These are the ways to pay less that it does list:

  • 🏠 Free with a Residents' Discovery Card
  • 🎓 Free for full-time students at Bath Spa University, the University of Bath and Bath College
  • 🎟️ £1 on Universal Credit, Pension Credit or ESA, plus up to four children at £1
  • ♿ Carers and companions free
  • 👶 Under sixes free

The Discovery Card is free from Bath and North East Somerset Council for people who live in the area, and covers the Victoria Art Gallery too. You apply online, then collect and activate it in person with ID and proof of address. The £1 tickets must be booked in advance online or on 01225 477785, never on the door. There is no National Trust, English Heritage, NHS or military discount.

What is included in a Roman Baths ticket?

The ticket includes an audio guide in 13 languages, a children's guide narrated by Michael Rosen, and British Sign Language and audio-description guides. A one-hour guided tour is £8 extra per person, at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, and is free for under sixes.

Two ticketed evening events run this winter, separate from day tickets.
